Why choose Dan May Estate Liquidation Services?
Clearing an estate or selling items that you care about can be stressful, time-consuming and, in the case of the loss of a loved one, an emotional experience. At Dan May Estate Liquidation Services, we provide service that’s not only professional and efficient, but also sensitive to the needs of our clients.

We also realize that every situation is unique. We offer flexibility and options to help you get the best results.

1. Who uses your services?
Our clients have included a wide range of people looking to sell single items or liquidate an entire estate.

  • Individuals
  • Families
  • Real estate professionals
  • Fiduciaries
  • Trustees

2. How long does it take to prepare and conduct an estate sale?
Most sales are held for 1-3 days over a weekend and require one or two weeks of preparation time, depending on the size and complexity of the estate. In some cases, an estate can be ready for sale within a few days.

3. How can I prepare for the process?
You can help the process go more smoothly by planning for the sale as much in advance a possible, since the more time there is to prepare sale, the better the results. Additionally, it helps to make all choices in advance regarding what the family wants to keep, which can be a very difficult task.

4. What should I save and what should I throw away

SAVE

  • Clothes and accessories
  • Paper, letters, photos, posters, etc
  • Collections

TOSS

  • Actual garbage
  • Food in refrigerator and perishables
  • Greasy tuperware and plastics

Often relatives want to go into action and begin throwing away old clothes and papers. Before you head to the dumpster, you should know that there is a strong market for older vintage clothes and anything wearable, including hats, costume jewelry, purses, etc.  Likewise, old paper advertising, letters, photos, art posters and documents–anything that has the feel of times past–can be of interest and may hold value.

It’s also wise to save those odd collections (matchbooks, salt & peppers, etc.). To the untrained eye, they may look  like trash, but if you get enough of one thing together it truly is a collection and the vision of the collector is sometimes vindicated.
